A Florida man is said to have mistaken his son for a burglar and shot him on August 20, 2022 in Webster. Jaiden McGeorge (19) was found dead at the scene by Sumter County deputies.
Florida Man Accidentally Shoots and Kills Son After Mistaking Him for a Burglar
Earlier in the evening, McGeorge’s father called the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office to report three suspicious individuals trying to break into his home. He also noted that one of them had a gun. When authorities swung by to check things out, they found nothing.
“McGeorge reported seeing three people trying to enter his residence, claiming one of them was armed with a handgun,” according to the Sheriff’s Office. “Deputies responded and cleared the scene as unfounded.”
Details on the shooting are sparse as the investigation is still ongoing but Lindsay McGeorge (50) hasn’t been charged with anything at the moment.
