Kevin Federline has a whole lot to say about his ex-wife Britney Spears after many years of staying silent while she was under a lengthy conservatorship. Federline, who shares sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, with Spears, revealed that the boys have chosen to not visit their famous mother for months, and that they both declined an invitation to her recent wedding to Sam Asghari.
In an extremely rare interview set to air on ITV news, Federline opened up about the strained relationship between his sons and Britney. “The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now,” said Kevin. “It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.”

Federline also discussed Britney’s controversial 13-year conservatorship and how watching Britney’s battle for freedom being played out in the media has affected Sean Preston and Jayden James. “This whole thing has been hard to watch, harder to live through, harder to watch my boys go through than anything else. It’s been tough. It’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in my life,” he told interviewer Daphne Barak.
But aside from the average trials and tribulations that come with being the child of a celebrity, Kevin believes that Britney’s constant need to post nude photos of herself has had a negative impact on their children. “I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them. It’s tough,” he revealed, before adding, “I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school.”
Kevin’s wife, Victoria Prince, also weighed in on the drama that surrounds Britney and how she and Kevin try to create a safe space for their children when they are with them. “This is a normal home, a family… full of love. Whatever is happening outside has nothing to do with this home,” said Prince. It should be noted that the plush Los Angeles home she speaks of has been bankrolled by none other than Britney Spears.
Kevin also revealed during the interview that he struggles to get his ex to understand what it’s been like for their boys, saying, “If there was a way – any way – I could possibly say something to just open [Britney’s] eyes – but I haven’t found that yet. I feel like, if I found that, I’d be on the phone trying to tell her.”
Unsurprisingly, the Federline boys have had a lot of questions about Britney’s situation and Kevin has had difficulty helping them make sense of it all. “They’ve had a lot of questions about it. I don’t know that I can answer all of them for them but I just tried to explain to them that your mom needed help, you know, and the people were in play to try to make that happen, to make it better.”
To his credit, Federline does a fine job of appearing like a concerned and protective father, but his credibility became questionable once he said that he would allow Britney’s dad, James Spears, back into his family with open arms. “I would absolutely welcome Jamie Spears back in the boys’ lives,” Kevin admitted. “Especially if that’s what the boys wanted. I don’t have any hard feelings towards Jamie Spears. People make mistakes.
I feel bad for him. I feel like he’s been put through the wringer.” Kevin’s stance on his former father-in-law is rather peculiar, considering that he took out a restraining order against Jamie in 2019 after the patriarch of the Spears family got into a physical altercation with one of his sons.
Without going into detail, Kevin told the interviewer that his boys had witnessed some unsavory things during their past visits with Britney, and that factored in his decision to go for full custody. “There were a lot of things going on that I didn’t feel comfortable with”.
Kevin further explained that while Sean Preston and Jayden James love their mother, they aren’t exactly pleased with her overall lifestyle. “They tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but at the same time, I can tell that sometimes, it hurts to be in that position”.
