JONAH is a made man in NJPW after scoring the recent win over Kazuchika Okada. He’s tied for the leading spot in the A-Block, and tonight has a chance to take Lance Archer out of the tournament. Archer is in a must win scenerio tonight, and must keep winning if he hopes to bring AEW representation into the final four of the tournament. Wins over the likes of JONAH & Okada will be all it takes for Archer to make the finals, but that’s no easy task, as Archer will soon learn.
Lance Archer & JONAH Trade Heavy Blows From The Word Go
They’d stare down in the middle of the ring, with Archer having the height and reach advantage – but JONAH having a stronger base. A brutal exchange of forearms would see neither man budge, before they’d move to chops. These would have more effect, and moving to palm strikes brought both men to their knees.
The crowd was loving this, and more forearm smashes would follow. JONAH would finally drop Archer, needing a DDT to do so – before checking to make sure his chest wasn’t bleeding. An elbow butt and forearm smash kept Archer on the mat, before a headbutt and the cannonball shoulder tackle. Shoulder thrusts in the corner would follow, before JONAH would hit some body blocks in the corner.
Archer would respond with a Northern Lariat, cracking JONAH in the back of the head. The twisting Vader Bomb in the corner got Archer a two count, before he’d miss the running senton. JONAH went for a second of his own, but also got nothing. More forearm smashes would follow, before Archer hit the Black Hole Slam for a near fall.
Relying On The Countout To Get The Win
Archer would hit his feet, before getting nailed with The Pounce. JONAH would go up top for the moonsault, before Archer would interrupt. Blackout would be set, but JONAH slipped free and nailed a massive lariat. Black Forest Bomb would follow, before JONAH would look for the splash.
Archer would get back to his feet before JONAH hit the top rope, and nailed the step up knee strike. Both men would head to the apron, before they crashed to the floor after a tackle on the apron. Bad Dude Tito took a bullet for JONAH on the apron, blocking the cannonball senton.
JONAH would make the apron at 19, before being shoved to the floor. Archer would claim the countout victory, making the second count out loss for JONAH in this tournament. Archer remains in the tournament, as does JONAH – but his tournament just got a big tighter.
If Archer defeats Kazuchika Okada, he will likely make the finals – but that’s no easy task. Can Lance Archer make the finals? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
