A Pennsylvania woman was arrested after threatening her ex-boyfriend with a loaded shotgun and trying to light his car on fire via a “spell book.” Yes, a “spell book”—the kind that you might think would have fireballs and magic missile in it. In the case of Kristy Malzi (47), she attempted to use the Wicca Book of Spells against her ex.
However, this is a story told in multiple parts from local reports.
Pennsylvania Woman Threatens Ex-Boyfriend with Shotgun Then Attempts to Vanquish His Car with “Fire Spell” from Spell Book – Then Goes Missing from Hospital
On July 30, 2022, Malzi showed up at BK’s Klassics, a used car dealership. Malzi threatened the man, saying that she was going to kill him and her mother before taking a loaded shotgun that was in his office.
While the gun was leveled at the man’s head, Kristy would hit him a few times, resulting in him not only grabbing the barrel but also escaping from the encounter. An employee helped him and eventually booted her from the office.
However, Kristy Malzi wasn’t done. Once outside, she found a copy of Wicca Book of Spells in the car that her ex was working on and attempted to set a 2012 Ford Focus on fire by throwing burning pieces of paper inside it.
OK, this wasn’t so much destruction magic as low-effort attempted arson, folks.
The same employee saw this and put the fire out with an extinguisher. Honestly, this worker came into work for another routine day and gets a double feature of danger with their co-worker’s unhinged ex. This worker should get a raise or a paid vacation but definitely Employee of the Year honors.
The 47-year-old was charged with several offenses with the two counts of “terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another” being particularly serious. She was also charged with simple assault and reckless burning or exploding.
Kristy Malzi and Her History with the Victim
All of this happened on July 30, 2022, and Kristy Malzi was locked up in the Cambria County Jail on $25,000 bail. However, the story that didn’t get picked up as much is that on August 4, Kristy left the UPMC Somerset hospital.
This wouldn’t really register if it wasn’t for the question of how did she come to be in the hospital between her arrest on July 30 and a few days later when she left the facility. Not only that, her mother was concerned about her disappearance.
As for the victim in this story—the ex-boyfriend—there seems to be this long-running history between the two with a 2018 lawsuit being pushed and then dropped by one Bernie Krieger. Mr. Krieger is also listed as the owner of BK’s Klassics.
What occurred and how it played out exactly wasn’t documented. However, it’s safe to say that whatever happened soured their relationship to the point she put a shotgun to his head and had to be thrown out of a building.
Also worth noting is that Malzi is actually a known quantity in Pennsylvania as a businesswoman. In 2020, she was the focus of an interview where she had purchased a property in Somerset County and discussed her other business ventures in the area including a secondhand store and a talent agency.
