The Georgia race for the U.S Senate is becoming a bit messy but it’s not between Dems and Republicans. There’s some kneecapping from those in the Republican Party who feel that former NFL star Herschel Walker isn’t the best candidate for the party and have brought out his ex-wife to speak on it.

The campaign ad features a highlight reel of Walker on the football field while a woman narrates the ad asking “Do you think you know Herschel Walker?” Our narrator tells the viewer “Well, think again. Listen to what his ex-wife has to say about him.”
His ex, Cindy DeAngelis Grossman was married to him from 1983 until their divorce in 2002. A previous video of her discussing abuse from Walker appeared towards the end of the video. In it she said:
“His eyes would become very evil…The guns and knives…I got into a few choking things with him…The first time he held the gun to my head, he held the gun to my temple and said he was going to blow my brains out.”
These are some wild allegations about a candidate for national office but Cindy’s been consistent with her story about Herschel Walker since getting a three-year restraining order against the former Pro Bowl winner following their divorce.
The ad was paid for by the Republican Accountability PAC, an organization aimed at rooting out former U.S President Donald Trump’s influence on the party. Herschel Walker would respond to the ad saying that he was glad his opponents posted it because it gave him the chance to speak on the stigma around mental illness.
He would thank Cindy for standing by him through his mental struggles.
Opponents have noted that the message of ending the stigma around mental illness was a truly important one that should get out there. However, the incidents with Cindy during their marriage were just a couple of many documented incidents over the years.
