They went further to have a mini introduction in Mexico and she automatically became their fiancée.

The US government frowns at polygamy. So, they decided to get a divorce in order for the intending couple to be to be together. But at a point, Dannielle started getting jealous and Garrick was less concerned but advised her to pray instead. Pandemic happened and they had to halt the wedding preparations, and invest their time on babies without Danielle’s knowledge.
Season 4 started with the Merrifields building a massive house in preparation for more wives and children. It is surprising that Bert hasn’t shown up in over a year after their mini introduction in Mexico. Her visa had been granted but she blamed her non appearance on her mum’s failing health.

After the long wait, the couple planned to get a third wife but Bert wasn’t consenting to the idea. They couldn’t wait any longer and Dannielle thought the third wife would be her companion when Bert eventually arrived. Despite Bert not okay with the idea, she is not even planning to come to the US. Fans doubted if she is still with the family, due to her post on Instagram about not leaving Brazil without “self-destruct and torture” and her refusal to pick their calls during the show.
They thought she played the couple. A fan commented “I don’t think Bert is ever coming. I think she’s a scam artist… they are probably sending her money.” To be fair, she probably got paid to appear this season and act interested. Moreso, she got the engagement ring plus those trips to Mexico. Plus, if she gets pregnant, she would get money from Garrick forever. The merrifields are not confirming this. Everything is beginning to look fake.
