Tonight could well be the final night of Santos Escobar‘s time in NXT 2.0 – as he puts everything on the line. It’s time for a street fight with Tony D’Angelo, with the NXT career and the fate of Legado Del Fantasma hanging in the balance. After months of abuse, Escobar can free his friends tonight – but if he loses, they stay with D’Angelo in NXT.
Santos Escobar Had Everything To Lose Tonight
The NXT fans have fully embraced their love of Legado Del Fantasma – and were 100% behind him once he hit the ring – and he was dressed for the biggest fight of his NXT career. Tonight, it’s all or nothing – and he’d start the match by throwing a steel chair at D’Angelo.
D’Angelo would be hit with a series of knee strikes, before being dropped face first into the chair. Escobar would keep the pressure on even after D’Angelo was able to kick out – and would hit the big crossbody off the top rope. On the floor, Stacks would take out Wilde & Del Toro – but Escobar kept control in the ring with a dropkick.
D’Angelo would roll to the floor, and would block a dive from Escobar with a trash can lid to the head. Escobar tried to regain control with a hurricanrana in the ring – but was blocked into a powerbomb and sent to the floor. D’Angelo would attack the hand of Escobar with the steel steps – before hitting a suplex onto a pile of Steel Chairs.
Falcon Arrow in the ring would get a two count, Escobar refusing to give up. He’d nail a set of hurricaranas, before a big double axe handle. D’Angelo flowed to the floor, got slapped by Elektra Lopez, before being pierced by the Arrow From The Depths Of Hell. Escobar would be shoved into the ring post, and D’Angelo called for the crowbar from Stacks, who couldn’t find it until Del Toro smacked him in the face with it.
Brass Knuckles were slid into the ring, and D’Angelo would run down Lopez on the floor – before a low blow to Escobar. In the ring, a crowbar shot would land – and D’Angelo has ended the NXT career of Escobar.
Mandy Rose Moves Past 300 Days As Champion
No one expected Zoey Stark to return to NXT when a battle royale was set to determine the next contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. However, Stark returned from her leg injury and became the number one contender. It was Toxic Attraction who took her out of action, and tonight – she can take the gold away from their leader, Mandy Rose.
Rose would have to block the knockout blow as this match began, before being rolled up for a two count. Stark would be sent to the floor, and had her knee wrapped around the ring post. Rose would focus on that knee in the ring, cranking on it before applying an STF.
Toxic Attraction would be ejected from ringside, as Stark would continue to be beaten down in the ring with a single leg crab. Stark would break free, before taking a kick to the back of the head. Rose would be hit with the knee to the face, but the leg was too hurt to make the immediate pinfall.
She’d have a chance to roll to the floor, before going after the knee brace of Stark. A roll up would get the two count, before Rose hit the running knee to the jaw – and a second using the knee brace of Stark for the win.
