Last week, Santos Escobar made his return to NXT after being put on the shelf by Tony D’Angelo. It’s time for their issues to be settled, and Escobar made this clear when he’d cost D’Angelo & Stacks their chance to be NXT Tag Team Champions. Tonight, Escobar & D’Angelo meet face to face to try and sort things out – and have promised to come alone, and meet on neutral ground.
One Final Accord Between Tony D’Angelo & Santos Escobar
Escobar would arrive a bit late, but stayed true to his word he arrived without backup. They’d sit down, and Escobar would be told he was lucky to be breathing after D’Angelo got hit with brass knuckles. Escobar was put in the hospital by D’Angelo, and last week was just business.
D’Angelo would try to claim that Escobar works for him, but Escobar would ask about the recent failures of the man who is trying to run NXT 2.0. This arrangement isn’t going to work, and both men know it – but D’Angelo expects Escobar to get back to work. However next week – it’s one final match.
Just like how Tony D’Angelo sent Tommaso Ciampa off to the main roster, if Santos Escobar loses? He will be gone from NXT. He’ll leave without Legado Del Fantasma, but if he wins – they’re free from the control of D’Angelo. It’ll be a street fight, and is set to be a high stakes encounter.
Pretty Deadly Try To Defend Whatever Honor Lash Legend Has Left
Malik Blade & Edris Enofe were caught backstage by the rambling of Lash Legend, who was trying to verbally paint the picture that she didn’t lose to Alba Fyre last week. Blade & Enofe would point this out as former NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly were in ear-shot, which would quickly spiral into Wilson & Prince playing the roles of white knights. Now, they look to defend the honor of Legend in the ring.
Blade would kick things off with Wilson, hitting some deep arm drags. Enofe kept the pressure on after a tag, before hitting the twisting elbow drop to the chest. Some quick tag team offence would keep Wilson on the defensive, before a flapjack would launch Blade.
Prince would get the tag and a two count, before the NXT UK Champions hit the ringside area to intimidate Pretty Deadly. Enofe & Blade would take advantage of his lack of focus, before the Edris Elbow got the two count. Pretty Deadly would remain in control however, and nailed Spilled Milk for the finish. After the bell, Legend would attack Fallon Henley who was with Briggs & Jensen at ringside – and would formally align herself with Pretty Deadly.
Zoey Stark Remains On Fire Ahead Of Her Title Shot
Next week at NXT Heatwave, we will see Zoey Stark get her chance to become the NXT Women’s Champion. She’s also been entered into the field to crown the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, where she will team with Nikkita Lyons. Tonight however, she needs to be focused on Cora Jade – who intends to injure Stark, and take the title shot for herself.
Mandy Rose was on commentary for this match – having a chance to directly scout her upcoming opponent. Stark & Jade would kick things off with Jade shoving Stark – and being driven to the mat. Some arm drags from Stark would follow, and Jade fled to the apron. Jade would gain some ground for some quick strikes, before being ran down with a lariat.
Stark would have a suplex attempt blocked, before Jade hit a forearm smash to the jaw. Jade was taken down to the mat with a Fisherman Suplex, but was able to kick out at two. Stark would trip Jade up and hit a slingshot senton, before Jade grabbed a handful of hair and hit a knee strike to the face.
Jade kept the pressure on with some stomps and pinfall attempts, but was unable to record a victory. A double stomp to the back brought her closest chance, before Stark was able to dodge a blindside elbow strike. Stark would be able to hit a big German Suplex – before throwing some forearm smashes at Jade.
Sliding dropkick to the face would get a two count, before another big German Suplex. Jade would look for Sliced Bread, but couldn’t connect before hitting a Hammerlock DDT. Sliced Bread landed on the second attempt, but Stark kicked out again. Jade would look to grab her kendo stick, but it was taken by Roxanne Perez. Big knee strike would follow – and Stark claims the win.
