For the past two weeks, we’ve seen some mixed tag team classics courtesy of Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo. Their position as AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions, and physical injury caused to Ortiz & Ruby Soho has led to some intense fights, and the record is tied 1-1. Tonight as part of All Out: Zero Hour – we get the tiebreaker, as the belts are on the line and these issues need to be put to bed.
Sammy Guevara Gets Hit By A Golf Cart, Still Retains AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships With Tay Melo
Before this one even hit the ring, Ortiz & Soho would try to commit vehicular manslaughter with a gold cart, with this one coming to ring with a brawl after Gueavra was run down. Wearing some slacks, he’d have to try and get into this match, taking a DDT from Soho, Death Valley Driver from Ortiz, and spike rana for a two count.
Guevara would hit a spin kick to the face of Ortiz, before Soho would look for the poison rana. Melo would kick Soho in the face, before kissing his husband… and taking a backdrop driver. Ortiz would nail a big lariat on Guevara, before setting him up for the diving senton from Soho. Melo would make the save, before hitting an assisted Canadian Destroyer on Ortiz.
Senton Atomico would get a two count, before Soho hit a missile dropkick on Melo, and landed with a senton on Guevara. Anna Jay would rush the ring but Soho would send her face first into the ring steps. TayKO & GTH would be blocked. No Future Kick and Short Arm Lariats would land, but only got two counts.
Melo would hit a superplex to the floor on Soho, with Ortiz & Guevara breaking some of the fall. Back in the ring, Soho would hit a knee strike to the face of Melo, before Anna Jay got involved once again to stop the spike rana. Tay KO would follow, and with Ortiz subdued – this one was over
Action Bronson Helps Even The Odds, HOOK Defends FTW Championship
HOOK as FTW Champion simply feels right, with this belt being his birthright. However, he still will defend against all comers – and tonight as part of All Out: Zero Hour, he gets one of the biggest challenges in his career thus far. Angelo Parker has taken aim at that championship, and with the backing of the Jericho Appreciation Society – could claim his first gold in AEW.
Parker has 15 wins in his last 18 matches, one of the more solid undercard records in AEW. Many of these were alongside Matt Menard, who was in his corner here tonight. HOOK meanwhile has a perfect 12-0 record, never tasting defeat in AEW – or anywhere else in professional wrestling. Action Bronson would be showed in the crowd, a friend of HOOK – and the man who performs the entrance theme.
Parker & HOOK would lock up in the middle of the ring, and HOOK took control with a hammerlock. Parker would be taken down to the mat, before a front headlock would be applied. HOOK would lose some control, and a distraction from Menard allowed for a straight punch to the eye.
Parker would take control, grinding the boot laces across the face. The short range dropkick would do some damage, and Parker would take the headbutt. Menard would have his hand stomped, before Parker was tossed around with suplexes. Body blows in the corner would follow from HOOK, before Redrum was applied – and Parker immediately tapped out.
After the bell, HOOK would be attacked by 2point0 – and Action Bronson would make the save. He’d throw 2point0 around and wanted a fight.
