Back at AEW All Out, Bryan Danielson was unable to defeat Chris Jericho – but tonight, has a chance to get his win back. Last week, Danielson was thrust into the Tournament of Champions to crown a new AEW World Champion – and was able to defeat Hangman Page. Tonight, he meets Jericho in the second round, with the winner moving to AEW Grand Slam. It won’t be easy to finally get a singles victory over a fired up Jericho – but it might be now or never for Danielson to call himself a world champion again.
Bryan Danielson Starts Off Fast
Danielson would start the match off fast with some heavy kicks in the corner, before the running dropkick to the face. Jericho would be taken to the floor and rammed into the post arm first. In the ring, Danielson would keep the pressure on the arm – before being sent to the floor with a triangle dropkick.
Back in the ring, Jericho would hit some mocking palm strikes, just serving to piss Danielson off. Jericho would move into chops instead – before Danielson came back twice as hard. Reversing the hammer throw into the corner, Danielson would flip over the head of Jericho – before they met in the ring with crossbodies.
Jericho would keep the shots coming on the mat – before just slamming the face of Danielson off the mat. Lionsault would land – getting Jericho a two count. Danielson would go to the top rope, before being taken down into the ring with the Super Rana. Jericho would be unable to follow up, ending up locked in Cattle Mutilation.
Chris Jericho Taps Out
Jericho was able to break free, before hitting the Codebreaker. Danielson would be able to stay in the fight – before being suplexed to the floor. He’d land hard on his ankle – causing potential injury. Jericho would notice and went after the ankle on the floor. He’d pull the boot off and punch the foot, before wrapping it around the steel post.
Figure Four Leg Lock around the ring post would follow – with referee Aubrey Edwards forcing Jericho to break the hold. Back in the ring, Jericho would hit a chop block – before a knee breaker. Danielson was able to fight to his feet, but went for the running knee strike, and instead ended up in the Walls Of Jericho.
Jericho moved into a single leg crab to focus on the hurt ankle – with Danielson able to find the bottom rope. Danielson would counter the spinning toe hold and grab a roll up for a two count before a Dragon Screw and Figure Four Leg Lock. Danielson was able to counter free into the crossface. LeBell Lock was applied, and Jericho was stranded in the middle of the ring – and tapped out.
