While fans are already looking forward to the rematch between Swerve In Our Glory & The Acclaimed set for AEW Grand Slam – there’s still time for this match to change. Lucha Bros are flying high in AEW once again as two thirds of the AEW World Trios Champions – and look to add more gold to Death Triangle here tonight. It’s Lucha Bros vs. Swerve In Our Glory with the belts on the line, and Death Triangle might end up with more double champions.
Swerve In Our Glory Are Ready For Rematch With The Acclaimed
Swerve would try and start this match by matching the speed of Penta, but was cut down the moment Fenix tagged into the match. Knowing that speed wasn’t working, Keith Lee would get the tag and try to overpower them. Fenix was still able to cut Lee down, before Penta soared in with a dropkick to the tailbone.
Leg kicks would follow, before Lee would able to brute force Fenix into the corner. Swerve got the tag and hit the diving uppercut. Fenix would hit the hook kick out of the ropes, before
Lee again threw his weight around. Swerve Stomp would be blocked into a step up Canadian Destroyer on Keith Lee after a Spanish Fly to Swerve.
Lee somehow kicked out, and was able to block the Fear Factor and hit Big Bang Catastrophe for the victory. The Acclaimed would come out without jokes tonight, they’re focused on becoming the AEW World Tag Team Champions next week. They still view themselves as the uncrowned champion, and everyone will be loving The Acclaimed after Grand Slam.
Toni Storm Takes The Fall
Tonight, Toni Storm was supposed to team with Hikaru Shida against Serena Deeb & Britt Baker – but the good doctor had other plans. Shida was beaten down backstage during AEW Dark, and a substitution would have to be made. Athena was happy to step up – seeing tonight as a chance to bounce back from a heavy loss at All Out to Jade Cargill. Both Deeb & Baker are looking to get shots at the Interim AEW World Championship help by Storm, but tonight won’t be an easy victory for anyone.
Storm & Athena would show some early chemistry, with Storm hitting the scoop slam before Athena would hit the slingshot splash. Athena would hit the vaulting elbow strike, before a twisting gutbuster for the two count. Deeb would be able to regain her footing, and hit a tight Dragon Screw. With Athena unable to put weight on the leg – Deeb & Baker would maul her.
Storm would try to regain control of the match – before taking a chair to the back from Baker. Deeb would take advantage – and was able to pin the champion. After the bell, Jamie Hayter would hit the ring – and despite her recent issues with Baker, she’d attack Storm instead – saying there’s another day for her to deal with Storm.
After the match, it’d be announced that Storm will defend against Deeb, Athena & Baker next week at Grand Slam in a Fatal Four Way match. Who will leave Grand Slam as champion? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
