At Double or Nothing, Britt Baker defeated Ruby Soho to win the Owen Hart Memorial Cup. This was the third time that Soho got a big chance in AEW, only to drop the ball. However, she’s not keen on falling off TV once again, and has grabbed Toni Storm for a tag team match tonight. After being screwed over by Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter earlier in the tournament, Toni Storm has enough reason to unite with Soho tonight and get her own revenge.
Ruby Soho Finally Pins Britt Baker
Baker would start the match alongside Storm, but took some time to gloat after fleeing the ring. Back in, Soho & Storm would sandwich Baker with kicks, before Hayter would get things under control. Baker hit Soho with a neckbreaker to the floor, before applying a rear chinlock in the ring. Quick tags between Baker & Hayter would cut the ring in half as they would brutalise Soho.
Storm would get the tag, and was able to hit Hayter with a swinging DDT. The second onto the floor was blocked, before Hayter hit a DDT herself. Soho hit a crossbody to the floor, before taking a slingblade from Baker. Baker put Storm & Hayter into the ring, before Storm would take control. Storm hit a German Suplex on Baker, and Soho would run in and take a choke breaker from Hayter.
Butterfly Suplex would land on Soho, who kicked out and nailed No Future for a near fall. Baker would move into an attempt at Lockjaw, with Soho able to avoid the full application. Swinging neckbreaker would follow, before Storm ran a distraction. Soho hit a knee strike and Destination Unknown, for the win!
After the bell, Hayter used the Owen Hart belt that Baker won to beat down Storm & Soho, ensuring they get the last laugh. This issue is far from over, and Soho & Storm will be keen to come out on top by the end.
Jon Moxley & Daniel Garcia Go To War
This past Sunday at AEW Double or Nothing, Jon Moxley & Daniel Garcia were just two people involved in Anarchy in the Arena. In the chaos of the match, it’s hard to say if they met on that night, but they certainly will tonight. For the first time ever, Daniel Garcia will face Jon Moxley in a singles match. Moxley is one of the biggest stars in the game today, and many consider Garcia to be the future – and is no stranger to winning big matches in LA, after winning PWG Battle of Los Angeles last year.
Moxley & Garcia would lock up hard in the middle of the ring, with Garcia forcing his way into the corner. Garcia would throw some heavy chops, but Moxley would be able to hold his ground. Snapmare would drop Moxley for a PK to the back. Moxley would fire back with the same combo, before taking a headbutt and looking for the Paradigm Shift.
Garcia would rush to the ropes to take this to the floor, and Moxley had his stitches from Sunday opened up. Moxley had his leg trapped between the ring steps and post, and Garcia would beat him down. Back into the ring, Garcia would focus on the legs, applying the Figure Four Leg Lock.
Moxley would get free, and during this action – Excalibur mentioned that Blood & Guts 2 is set for June 29th. Garcia would bite at the wound of Moxley to get more blood, before being launched onto the steel steps on the outside. Back in the ring, Moxley would hit a single underhook superplex, before the Hammer & Anvil elbows before the Bulldog Choke.
Blood & Guts II Will Have Jon Moxley
Garcia rolled through, hit some elbows and looked for the choke. Moxley would counter into the cross armbreaker, and Garcia was able to block into the Regal Stretch. Moxley fought free before a backdrop driver landed, with Garcia hitting a stuff piledriver.
Garcia would go for the sharpshooter, and Moxley would block into the Bulldog Choke. This one spilled to the outside, and Garcia applied a Rear Naked Choke, but was driven onto the timekeepers table. Jericho would rush the ring from commentary, allowing a brief distraction. Moxley still hit Paradigm Shift into Bulldog Choke for the win!
At ringside, Eddie Kingston would beat down Jericho, before Moxley would say Kingston is one hard man to love. He will gladly enter Blood & Guts alongside his longtime friend, if not just for the violence.
