Fuego Del Sol has been missing from AEW TV for a while, but has been putting in the work on AEW Dark – even debuting a new submission finisher to apply after his Tornado DDT. Tonight, he’s got a chance to prove he can hang with the stars on Dynamite & Rampage, as he goes one on one with Lee Moriarty of The Firm. Backing Moriarty up tonight is W. Morrissey – a daunting figure to say the least, even just to be looming at ringside.
Nyla Rose Challenges Jade Cargill, Lee Moriarty Gets Submission Victory
Before this match would begin, Jade Cargill would once again claim she’s got no big challenges – and Nyla Rose would step up to challenge the TBS Champion. Cargill accepted, but said things are being done on her terms, meaning no direct timeline for this match.
Moriarty would start this match with a tight cravat, showing some great pure wrestling – making sense with his goal of being the next ROH Pure Rules Champion. Fuego would be able to fight free and get some blows in before taking a big dropkick. Moriarty would stomp Fuego on the ropes relentlessly, before a running knee strike in the corner.
A arm capture suplex would land – before a massive facebuster. Border City Stretch would be applied – and Fuego had no choice but to tap out. Moriarty would keep it locked in after the bell, and was sending a message to Daniel Garica. After the match, Morrissey would nail a massive chokeslam – sending a message of his own.
Jamie Hayter Takes Willow Nightingale Down
This past Wednesday, the AEW Women’s World Championship was defended in a lumberjack match. During this match, Willow Nightingale & Jamie Hayter would get into it at ringside – brawling off into the back. Now tonight on AEW Rampage, these two meet in a singles match, giving a chance to settle their issues and raise to a potential shot in the process.
Willow would stand tall as Hayter hit a shoulder tackle, before dropping her with a scoop slam and hitting the low crossbody for a two count. Fisherman Suplex would follow, with Hayter managing to kick out once again. Hayter would hit a superkick, before a running knee strike into the corner.
Willow would start to get overwhelmed by the strikes of Hayter, before being tossed across the ring. Hayter would hit a heavy uppercut followed by a chop, and a knee drop neckbreaker would get a near fall. Willow would hit the pounce to send her rolling from the ring – and hit the Death Valley Driver in the ring for a near fall of her own.
Hayter followed up with a German Suplex into a Rainmaker – and claimed a big victory with this time tested combination. With Britt Baker nursing a broken nose – it’s likely we see Hayter soon go after the AEW Women’s World Championship. Will Hayter end the reign of Storm?
