In Blaine, Washington, border agents have seized almost 450 pounds of meth and put the button on a separate operation in the state. Known as the “Blaine Sector,” the city is a port of entry between Washington state and British Columbia.
On the night of September 16, 2022, agents came across a Hummer H3 that had been abandoned at the border. Inside were several big duffle bags packed with meth.

When the contents were weighed it came out to almost 450 pounds and had an estimated street value of over $1.7 million. It’s not unusual to find smuggling vehicles abandoned with immigrants or illegal drugs as several factors can play a role in scuttling the mission.
Even news of other seizures and arrests at a border can see hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in product sitting at the border or on the side of a road. Getting spooked or realizing that the plan is doomed allows traffickers to smuggle another day.
Of course, that doesn’t do anything on their end if this is the port that they have to bring drugs through and it might be the quickest route. Taking a safer, longer route still runs the risk of getting nabbed by states’ highway patrol.
Also, it was probably left there for co-conspirators to handle on their side of the border. In the case of the Washington meth seizure, Chief Patrol Agent David A. BeMiller gave credit to his agents in Blaine Sector for spotting the 450-pound load:
“Vigilant and steadfast, Blaine Sector Border Patrol agents secure and protect our nation from those who wish to do us harm. This seizure is an excellent example of their commitment to this honorable mission by taking nearly 450 pounds of methamphetamine off the streets.”
