When Andrade El Idolo first introduced RUSH as an ally in All Elite Wrestling, no one really knew what to expect. At the time, it was announced a ‘per appearance’ type deal, with RUSH set to appear around 12 times. Needless to say, he maximized him minutes like few others – putting on great performances against Jon Moxley, Lucha Bros, and in the Casino Ladder match – and the hard work paid off. RUSH is now #AllElite.
RUSH Is Officially Signed To An AEW Contract
This would be announced by Tony Khan ahead of the taped match of John Silver vs. RUSH set to air tonight on AEW Rampage. Few will complain about this choice after RUSH proved himself over the past few months, but when El Toro Blanco originally showed up, there were fears of his backstage stubbornness emerging.
During his time as a two time ROH World Champion, RUSH was notorious for never taking losses, and even when he took a defeat – would find a way to come out on top. The worst case of his came when Bandido took the ROH World Championship from him, and had to win with a roll up before being beaten down by La Faccion Ingorbernables and not getting a chance to celebrate the win.
Andrade El Idolo Remains In Dispute With AEW
However, RUSH not being the big fish in the pond in AEW has done wonders clearly. He still carries himself like a top star, and is one of the most effective heels in the promotion right now – only lingering behind the likes of MJF or Christian Cage in terms of reactions. RUSH is a great wrestler, there was never a doubt about that – but he’s really shown consistency that was unseen in ROH during his time in AEW.
There remains questions on the future of his friend Andrade El Idolo in AEW, with Andrade seemingly being upset with his spot in the company. Getting RUSH on a contract could lead to Andrade being written off TV, or it could have been something that helps the mood of Andrade. That situation will hopefully find some clarity in the coming months.
