The Acclaimed are here to stay as AEW World Tag Team Champions, having proven this when they defeated both Private Party and Butcher & The Blade on Rampage. Tonight is not a time for defending their belts, but rather time to celebrate. It’s National Scissoring Day, as The Acclaimed celebrate with Billy Gunn.
The Acclaimed Celebrate National Scissoring Day
The Acclaimed would get a massive reaction from the fans as their music hit, and it only got louder through the latest rap from Max Caster. Truly, The Acclaimed have arrived in AEW – and now that they have the ball, it might never be seen again. A loud “Scissor Me Daddy Ass” chant would be heard on TV, and Bowens welcomed us all to National Scissoring Day.
They are the best homegrown team in AEW history, and the winningest team in the division. Hell, the Scissor Me Daddy Ass t-shirt is the best selling shirt of 2022. AEW might as well stand for Acclaimed Every Wednesday at this point. Like how Babe Ruth was the Sultan of Swat – Bowens is the Sultan of Scissoring.
To all those not understanding the message of scissoring, it’s a handshake – a sign of respect. Bowens would go off on thrown together teams like Swerve In Our Glory – especially that snake Swerve Strickland. It’s not his house, it’s not Saraya’s house – it’s Daddy Ass’s house!
Billy Gunn would take the microphone, and said he went to city hall today and got The Acclaimed a present. They’re giant golden scissors – and Bowens would break a rule in life and run with them. Caster instructed the crowd to all scissor, before ending the festivities with a story. 40 years ago, his father was on the Washington NFL team and won the superbowl.
This city represents the best in both his career and his dads – and at the end of the day, everyone loves The Acclaimed! Before a three way scissoring in the ring, Swerve Strickland would hit the ramp – and would challenge Billy Gunn to a singles match for next week in Toronto.
RUSH Brings The Fight To Hangman Page
This past Friday on AEW Rampage, RUSH would take down John Silver of The Dark Order. After the bell, Jose & Andrade joined in with a three on one beatdown – until Hangman Page would make the save. Jose would take the Buckshot Lariat, but tonight – its RUSH vs. Hangman Page in a first time singles match. RUSH is freshly signed to an AEW contract, and with Page set to challenge for the AEW World Championship? This win could be all it takes to get him to that next level in AEW.
As expected, this one instantly turned into an exchange of strikes. Page would be sent to the apron, and he’d think about the Buckshot Lariat – before RUSH caught him off guard with a taunt. Jose would grab the ankle allowing RUSH to hit a forearm smash, taking this fight to the floor. RUSH would choke Page at ringside with the camera cables.
Back in the ring, RUSH would hit a dropkick to the spine before trading chops with Page. A suplex would follow, before Page was able to battle back, catching a crossbody into a Fallaway Slam. RUSH would take the springboard lariat on the apron, before being dropped with the vaulting body press.
Back in the ring, RUSH would be caught into a Death Valley Driver for a near fall. RUSH would look for the running knee strike into the corner, with Page catching him and turning this into a pinfall. Page would head to the apron with the Buckshot in mind, and Jose again went after the leg.
Jose was kicked off, but RUSH would block the Buckshot and hit a straight jacket piledriver for the near fall. RUSH would look for Bulls Horns – but Page nailed the lariat, and finished up with the Buckshot Lariat. After the match, Moxley hit the ring – and said he’s been waiting for this. He’s been waiting to face Hangman Page – they’ve beaten everyone… but each other. They meet on October 18th – and there’s only going to be one man left standing on that night.
Could Hangman Page take the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
