When you have someone who is just arrested multiple times in a county, they’re a known quantity and Stephen Joel Horton of Florida is one such man. His October 20, 2022 arrest marked the fourth time this year and the ninth time since 2017.
Florida Man Arrested for the 4th Time in 2022 After Being Stopped with Drugs
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Horton (42) was pulled over on State Road 100 around 8 PM. He was going 55 MPH in a 35 MPH construction zone—and cut off an unmarked police vehicle. The deputy had to brake abruptly to avoid crashing their vehicle.
This was just doing the most and getting expectedly caught where it’s easiest to get caught. During the traffic stop—because he had to stop after cutting off a deputy—it was observed that Horton was “rocking back and forth as if someone was moving around rapidly inside the vehicle.”
Authorities checked the vehicle and found a large-bladed weapon hidden between the driver’s seat and the center console. When the suspect exited the car, the deputy spotted burnt foil in the door and a butcher knife—the bladed weapon mentioned before.
More was found while checking Horton’s person. The deputy pulled a metal tin from Horton’s underwear and found three small baggies. One baggie had less than a gram of meth while the other had fentanyl residue.
Perhaps most interesting about the arrest is that this particular deputy ran into this particular suspect so many times that the deputy greeted him with “You again?”
As to the reason why Stephen Joel Horton is a known quantity; he was sent to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Center on felony evidence tampering, possession of fentanyl and meth, and felony weapon possession. Horton was being held on an $11,000 bond.
