Sushi Restaurant Owner Arrested in Florida for Using Restaurant as a Drug Trafficking Front
The arrest occurred in St. Petersburg around 3 AM but deputies executed a search warrant on Oishi Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi just before 1:30 AM. Authorities seized 980 grams of MDMA, 750 grams of coke, 65 grams of ketamine, 20 grams of oxy, and 10 grams of Adderall. Also seized were two rifles and six pistols.
It’s quite the inventory to have in an Asian cuisine establishment. The kicker is that Bui was arrested on drug trafficking charges in 2004. The drugs and the guns are all felony offenses against the terms of his release.
Bui was hit with 21 drug and firearms charges including operating a drug house, multiple counts for possession, trafficking, and intent to distribute offenses. Currently, Hai Thanh Bui is jailed in the Pinellas County Jail awaiting his court appearance.
