At the El Paso Port of Entry, Border Patrol seized 128 pounds of coke at the Bridge of the Americas. On October 6, 2022, a tractor trailer rolled into the Bridge of the Americas Cargo Facility for inspection—and yes, it was forwarded for further inspection.
Tractor Trailer with 128 POUNDS of COKE Seized in El Paso – Estimated Street Value of $1.4 MILLION
In a statement, it was reported that a Mexican national was driving the truck which came in from Mexico. As mentioned in our Pharr International Bridge seizure, once a tractor trailer rolls into port, it’s most likely getting the special second inspection treatment.
“Special” meaning that drug dogs and the x-ray machine were on duty and wanted to meet the drug smuggler. The drug dog was alerted and prompted Border Patrol to physically inspect the trailer. Officers seized 52 packages of cocaine weighing 128 pounds.
Interestingly, an arrest was made at the time but the trailer and drugs were seized. Port Director Ray Provencio was brief in discussing the seizure saying:
“This is a large amount of cocaine that is not making it to its intended destination because of the vigilance of the CBP workforce.”
