Queen Elizabeth’s funeral took place on the 19th of September at Westminster Abbey. The people present, the funeral service, and the ceremonial arrangements said their last goodbyes to the Queen. A monarch that ruled the country for 70 years. All of the Queen’s family and friends were present at the funeral. While most of the ceremony went with no major issues or remarks, there is one move by Prince Harry that left the audience questioning his reasoning.
A clip from the funeral emerged where it could be clearly seen that Prince Harry stops singing ‘God Save The King’ near the end of the funeral ceremony.
Why Did ‘Disrespectful’ Prince Harry Stop Singing God Save The King At The Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral?
While all members of the royal family kept singing from the beginning until the end of the song, Prince Harry decided to suddenly stop. The queen’s consort Camilla, Princess Anne, Timothy Laurence, Prince Andrew, Prince William, and William’s family –all sang throughout the whole song.
Prince Harry, as expected, stood beside his wife Meghan Markle. The camera caught him clearly not singing, while Meghan Markle skillfully hid her mouth from the objective behind the candles. At the moment it is unclear if Meghan Markle was singing as well.
In the viral video, Prince Harry seems like looking into ‘nothingness’ and suddenly stops mouthing the words of the song. As the video of Prince Harry stopping to sing the traditional ‘God Save The King’ emerged, a massive outrage on social media sparked immediately. Most of the comments call the Duke of Sussex a disrespectful person and a shame to his family’s name.
“Total, utter, disrespect for his father, the nation, the crown and the monarch.” – UK veteran Mike Murphy commented on the video. “Strip him of all of his royal titles and funding. How much will NETFLIX want him then?”
A bunch of other tweeter users joined the comments on the video. “He couldn’t be any more disrespectful if he tried.” – another user tweeted. “Terribly awkward when the king is your dad and you’re sitting right behind him.” – the third one noticed.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to the United States back in 2020. Since then they have been vocal – criticizing the royal family. On several occasions, Prince Harry also points out that he is ‘estranged’ from his father, King Charles.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Prince Harry claimed that his father stopped financing him and that he is left to fight for existence on his own.
“There’s a lot to work through there.” – Prince Harry told Oprah, referring to his relationship with his father. “I feel really let down. He’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like. And Archie is his grandson. I will always love him, but there is a lot of hurt that has happened.”
Did Prince Harry stop singing intentionally? Is he purposely showing disrespect to the new King?
