It’s time to find out the first finalist in the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament, as Ethan Page goes one on one with Bandido. Page advanced by defeating longtime rival Eddie Kingston last Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, while Bandido advanced by defeating RUSH on AEW Rampage. Both men had some help in their victories, with Page benefitting from The Firm distracting the referee as he tapped out to the Stretch Plum – and Bandido taking advantage of John Silver helping to even the odds against La Faccion Ingobernables. One of these men will move onto Full Gear tonight – making this an important match in the AEW careers of both.
Bandido Shows No Fear
Ethan Page would start quickly by going after the wrist of Bandido, before moving into a headlock. Bandido would fight free with an elbow strike to the ribs, before flipping free and making a gun taunt at his face. Page would hit the ropes before Bandido would launch him with a flying headscissor takedown.
Bandido would show his uncanny power with a deadlift suplex, but it only got a one count in the end. Stokely Hathaway would get involved on the outside, grabbing the boot of Bandido as Page distracted the referee. Page would get the cheap shot to the back of the head of Bandido, before some rough punches to the face on the mat.
Bandido would be run down with a stiff shoulder tackle, with Page getting a two count. Page would narrowly avoid a splash in the corner, before a hard throw across the ring. Ego’s Edge would be blocked, as Bandido slipped away before kicking a turnbuckle in the face. Page was sent to the floor, and Bandido would hit a moonsault off the ring post to the floor.
Ethan Page Makes The Finals
Tornillo would follow in the ring, getting a two count. 21Plex would be blocked, and Page springed off the ropes right into a cutter. Ego’s Edge off the top rope would be blocked with a frankensteiner, before Bandido would nail a military press slam. Frog Splash would follow, but Page was able to kick out.
Bandido would try to go high risk once again – only to be cut down. Page would chuck Bandido to the mat with a body slam from the second rope before a soaring shoulder tackle and the Ego’s Edge. This one was over, and this victory puts Page in the finals.
The other side of the bracket remains unclear, with Ricky Starks vs. Lance Archer in a first round match set for Rampage. Brian Cage has already advanced to the semi-finals, and will face the winner of Archer vs. Starks sometime before Saturday’s finals.
