The RCMP in New Brunswick has wrangled five in Haute-Aboujagane in the province’s biggest fentanyl seizure ever. What’s most impressive about this case is the turn around from the investigation into drug trafficking starting in September 2022 and arrests being made in an operation moving this much weight.
Five Arrested in the Biggest Fentanyl Seizure Ever in New Brunswick – Other Drugs and Weapons Seized
On October 28, 2022, authorities began making arrested with one man being nabbed. Three search warrants were executed in both Haute-Aboujagane and Grand Barachois.
In addition to the five traffickers being arrested, the RCMP seized roughly five kilos of fentanyl, “Shady 8” pills that have fentanyl in them, meth, meth pills, hydromorphone pills, and drug paraphernalia.
Those are just the drug seizures in these raids. Authorities also confiscated ammo, a crossbow, several vehicles, a generator, stolen goods, and nine firearms. Of the firearms, three were prohibited while two were restricted.
Only one suspect wasn’t released with conditions and showed up in court on November 1 where he received additional weapons charges. The Moncton provincial court hit Gilles Vienneau-Gallant with possession for the purpose of trafficking for each of the five drugs seized.
He was also charged with possession of a firearm without a license, production of a schedule 1 drug, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
While his co-conspirators will be due in court on January 6, 2023, Vienneau-Gallant has a bail hearing in court on November 4, 2022.
