A drug trafficker in Portland, Oregon has been convicted of trafficking after he was caught on Interstate 5 with ten pounds of meth, two guns, and about three pounds of fentanyl pills in March 2021.
Portland Man Receives 10 Years Behind Bars on Drug Trafficking Charges Stemming from March 2021 Arrest
Going back to his arrest, on March 6, 2021, Jonathan James Lawson (29) had been observed by authorities as part of an investigation and they picked up on Lawson moving weight from Southern California to Josephine County, Oregon.
On March 7, police moved on their information after Lawson was seen driving north on I-5. He was stopped near Grants Pass, Oregon and an initial search of the convicted’s vehicle turned up the meth, 700g of fentanyl pills, body armor, and a revolver.
When authorities searched deeper, they turned up another gun, ammo, drug paraphernalia, and another 480g of fentanyl pills.
Jonathan James Lawson was charged with possession with intent to distribute and firearm possession in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Almost a year later on March 15, 2022, possession with intent to distribute meth was added to his charges.
On May 9, 2022, Lawson pleaded guilty to the meth possession charge. The 29-year-old was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison with five years of supervised release.
