A Washington woman has been sentenced to 20 years after she broke into a senior citizen’s home for a bit of burglary that resulted in a heart attack and the death of a 71-year-old man.
Washington Woman Gets 20 Years for House Burglary That Resulted in 71-Year-Old Man Having a Heart Attack and Dying in 2021
Sarah Daniel broke into William “Billy” Jackson’s home on September 24, 2021. She and her girlfriend Leanne English had cased Jackson’s residence. It was something that the couple did before according to authorities.
Jackson, a resident of Concord, Washington had several health conditions including diabetes and advanced heart disease. It was also noted that he had problems with his mobility.
He was the couple’s preferred victim. Because of his mobility issues, he often slept at his kitchen table in a fishing chair and spent a lot of his waking hours in that chair since it was the most comfortable he could get.
It appears that English didn’t join in on this house invasion. Jackson’s neighbor reported hearing voices coming from his apartment and spotted people leave the residence.
He attempted to chase them down but was unsuccessful. The neighbor returned and checked Jackson’s apartment where he found the 71-year-old unconscious on the kitchen floor from a heart attack.
Emergency services managed to keep him alive for a couple of hours before he passed early the next morning, his body unable to handle a series of heart attacks.
Further damning Sarah Daniel to 20 years was a pathologist pointing out that Jackson wouldn’t have died if not for the incident hadn’t startled him, putting stress on his already strained heart.
In their victim impact statement, Jackson’s family said:
“He was living the best years of his life, he had met Linda and we had never known him be happier. It was the happiest he had ever been and he had a number of years still on the clock to make memories.”
