Last week on AEW Dynamite, The Acclaimed proved without a shadow of a doubt they are the best tag team in the world. They defeated FTR in a dream match, retaining the belts once again. Tonight, they were set to give their plans for the rest of 2022 – but things would not go as planned.
Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal Send Message To The Acclaimed
On their way to the ring, The Acclaimed would be run down by the quartet of Satnam Singh, Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal, and Jeff Jarrett. Billy Gunn was taken down first, Anthony Bowens would be thrown over the timekeeper’s table, and Caster would take a guitar to the head. Jarrett would ask if now they have the attention of The Acclaimed, before posing with the belts.
The fans in the arena had the expected negative reaction to Jarrett touching AEW gold, and there is no doubt that The Acclaimed will refuse to let this stand. Jarrett & Lethal will get their match – and learn why The Acclaimed are only taken down this easily with a sneak attack. Jarrett is historically not a great tag team wrestler, but is a certified legend in the ring – and can truly do anything these days.
Jack Perry Defeats Brian Cage, Gets Run Down By Big Bill – Saved By HOOK
Since returning to TV earlier this month, it’s been hard to deny the skills of Brian Cage. Now one third of the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions, Cage has a taste for gold again – and doesn’t want to stop at just one championship. However, to get title shots you need to get wins – and tonight, he looks to send a message to the AEW Locker room as he goes one on one with ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry.
Cage would stop an arm drag as this match began, before standing like a brick wall against a running shoulder tackle from Perry. A kick to the head would stagger Cage, before a diving hurricanrana would take him down. Perry would roll to the apron, before being taken back into the ring the hard way – with a stalling superplex.
Cage would get some bicep curls in using Perry, before a Fallaway Slam. Perry would take a quick backbreaker, before being choked under the bottom rope. Cage would miss a running splash in the corner, before absorbing the Comebacker Lariat and finally being dropped with a DDT.
Perry was thrown with a German Suplex before a Full Nelson Driver for a two count. Drill Claw was blocked into a roll up for a near fall for Perry, before he’d block a Death Valley Driver into a Canadian Destroyer before Snare Trap would be applied. Cage tapped out, but Prince Nana would distract the referee.
Perry would run Cage into Nana, and roll him up for the victory. After the match, Perry called out Big Bill of The Firm – only to be laid out in the ring with a chokeslam. HOOK would come to his aid, also having issues with The Firm – sending them running.
House of Black vs. Everyone
The House Always Wins is the mantra of The House of Black, and after a brief abscence – they’re back and more dangerous than perhaps ever before. They’re now more focused on the widespread destruction of the roster. Tonight, they will have their first trios match back – as Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews return to the ring.
The Factory were their opponents, with Julia Hart taking out Comoroto using the vile black mist. Matthews & King would lead the attack on the floor while Black stared into the soul of QT Marshall. Quickly, Marshall was the only member of The Factory standing – and a Black Mass kick ended this match as fast as it started.
