Former Brazilian footballer Kaka shockingly asserted that Brazilians do lack appreciation for two-time World Cup champion Ronaldo and merely view him as an overweight person going for a stroll.
Brazilian Footballer Kaka Compares Ronaldo To A ‘Fat Man Waking Down The Street’
Ronaldo, seen as one of the most iconic players in the annals of soccer, was instrumental in Brazil’s victory in the World Cup in 1994 and 2002. Ronaldo has been supporting the country from the sidelines, having been pictured in Qatar.
However, he is a shadow of the man that was once heralded as a great, having piled on the pounds since his retirement. When asked to comment on Ronaldo, this is what Kaka had to say: “It’s strange to say this, but many Brazilians don’t support Brazil.
“It happens sometimes. If you see Ronaldo walking around here, you’ll be like: Wow, he has something different here. In Brazil, he’s just a fat man walking down the street.”
Kaka, for his part, had a stellar career himself. Over the course of his 14-year career representing the Brazil national team, the former midfielder was selected for the team on 92 occasions and scored 29 times.
At the age of nineteen, Kaka made his first appearance in a friendly match against Bolivia in January 2002. Later on, he joined Ronaldo in the 2002 World Cup in South Korea as the Brazilian’s won the tournament. Despite those previous comments, though, Kaka had nothing but respect for Ronaldo.
His following comments confirmed as much: “Of course, many Brazilians love Ronaldo, I love Ronaldo, but the way he is respected in Brazil and abroad is different, I see more respect for him outside the country than there.”
The fans on social media did not agree with what Kaka had to say. And as a result, it appeared as though his comments had disrespected a Brazilian legend. One person wrote: “What a weird thing to say.”
