In Mountain View, California, a man was arrested after stealing a car with two children inside on Christmas night. The incident occurred at around 7:30 PM after the police received a call that her car had been stolen.
California Man Charged with Carjacking and Kidnapping After Stealing Car with 2 Kids Inside on Christmas Night
According to the woman, she’d parked the car for a moment with her 13-year-old and 7-year-old still inside and ran into their house to get some food for their trip. When she returned, she saw her car driving off with an unknown man behind the wheel. Inside, her kids were calling for help.
The victim said that the carjacker, identified as Francisco Reynoso told the kids to get out of the car. They hopped out of the car and Reynoso drove off only to be stopped in Palo Alto. According to the Mountain View PD, the children and mother escaped the situation unharmed as did the suspect.
Francisco Reynoso was arrested for carjacking, felony child endangerment, and kidnapping. Those are fresh charges on top of outstanding warrants for his arrest. Mountain View PD Captain Scott Nelson said of the arrest:
“I am very proud of the quick work of our dispatchers and our patrol teams last night, and I am grateful no one was hurt in this incident. Kudos to all who helped peacefully resolve this scary situation so quickly.”
