According to a recently released FBI document, a 46-year-old man from Arizona, who drove a Bentley, was taken into custody in the state this year.
Cult Leader Had 20 Wives And Married His Own Daughter Says FBI
It is said that he had a total of 20 spouses, a few of them being as young as nine-years-old and was even said to have married his own daughter. Furthermore, he is reported to have transported his wives in a trailer equipped with a bucket as a toilet.
The person in question, Samuel Rappylee Bateman, is in charge of a faction that belongs to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, commonly known as FLDS.
He is so extreme in his beliefs that even Warren Jeffs, the former leader of FLDS who was convicted of child rape, has publicly denounced him.
The FBI have also alleged that he has been responsible for further heinous acts: group sex, and even child sex trafficking. Since he was arrested in September, he has been held in federal custody.
The arrest happened when the police stopped him while he was driving a trailer, which was filled with juvenile girls and had a couch and a bucket used as a lavatory.
Subsequently, Bateman was taken into custody and locally indicted for three counts of mistreating a child. Bateman denied the accusations, yet the child welfare agency had already taken away the youngsters from his dwelling in Colorado City.
The response on social media was one of outrage. A significant proportion of people demanded that Bateman receive the highest possible punishment.
Meanwhile, others were not surprised that these issues existed within church institutions. One person wrote: “And people still wonder why younger generations are turning away from church ?”
The only thing left to do is let the authorities investigate the matter and come to a conclusion. And the sooner that this is resolved, then the better it is for everyone involved.
