Authorities in Longmont, Colorado have arrested a man alleged to have “direct ties to the Sinaloa cartel” as well as 45 pounds of fentanyl. The arrest was a joint operation involving the DEA, the Longmont PD Special Investigations Unit, the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Front Range Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations.
Man With ‘Direct Ties to the Sinaloa Cartel’ Arrested With 45 Pounds of Fentanyl
After the unified task force received a tip that there was a fentanyl dealer in Longmont, they set up a deal and planned the sting. On December 2, 2022, the task force took up spots at the Super 8 motel on Main Street.
At 10 AM when Adalberto Reyes-Carrillo (48) arrived and put a cooler into an SUV. It was at that time that authorities made the arrest. In the cooler, police found 14 “brick-like packages wrapped in black electrical tape”.
The delivery weighed 45 pounds and tested positive for fentanyl. Reyes-Carrillo was booked into the Boulder County jail on unlawful distribution and possession of fentanyl.
Special Agent Brian Besser, head of the DEA Rocky Mountain Division touched on the Sinaloa cartel after an investigation discovered ties to the organization:
“The Sinaloa cartel is one of two primary cartels responsible for flooding the United States with dangerous and deadly fentanyl.”
A judge set Reyes-Carrillo’s bond was set at $500,000.
