Before her arrest, Johnson was a captain with the Alabama Department of Corrections while Olds was a lieutenant for the Childersburg Community Work Center. With the arrests, she had been put on mandatory leave according to spokesperson Kelly Betts.
Olds was arrested back in 2021 for bribery as she brought contraband into prison between August 2020 and January 2021 for a murderer serving life. She also allegedly talked with an inmate on video chat but didn’t report the contraband or confiscate the phone.
Johnson and Olds were both hit with four counts of bribery and four counts of using their positions for personal gain. ADOC Commissioner John Hamm commented on the arrests saying:
“The ADOC is committed to enforcing its zero-tolerance policy on contraband, particularly when it comes to policing our own.”
