It’s been an eventful year for the former WWE chairman, and there are reports from the Wall Street journal that things could get even more interesting moving forward.
After retiring/stepping down during an investigation from the WWE board over his alleged use of company funds to silence possible sexual assault and misconduct allegations as well as cover up affairs, he reportedly told some that he’s going to return to the WWE.
Vince McMahon Plans to Return to WWE in a Big Surprise Despite Fresh Allegations Arising
This comes on the tail of his lawyer reportedly receiving a letter from a lawyer representing Rita Chatterton, who accused him of raping her in 1986, asking for $11.75 million in damages.
His lawyer also reportedly received an email from another attorney representing a former spa manager that claimed McMahon assaulted her in 2011 as a California resort.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the latter wasn’t reported by the media, but the former spa manager said she reported it to the resort and told her husband, who was turned away at a WWE event when he tried to confront McMahon about it.
The Wall Street Journal reported that McMahon is refusing to pay settlements to Rita Chatterton and the spa manger.
Making a return
The WSJ also reported that McMahon has told people that he plans on making a comeback in the WWE and that he received bad advice from those close to him that told him he should step down.
He reportedly believes the news of the allegations would’ve blown over if he stayed. Before he resigned, he reportedly told people he had no intention of stepping down and that he would continue running the company until more allegations came out.
Since he left, it’s been widely reported that working at WWE is night and day as people don’t feel they have to keep their heads down, don’t feel guilty if they leave at quitting time, and it’s become more of a positive atmosphere overall.
The product has also improved immensely as the storylines make sense and don’t have the feel of being an idea thrown at the wall at the last minute and finishes rarely repeat in the same night.
But, while he’s not the CEO and Chairman anymore, he still owns a controlling interest in the company and could arrive and force his way in as majority shareholder.
Of course, him appearing as anything more than a character will most likely be up to Stephanie McMahon, Nick Kahn, and Triple H, and any influence over the product would have to be approved by the board of directors.
There’s a lot that could happen, assuming the reports are legitimate and he is planning on coming back in some way. What do you think will happen? Will Vince come back and in what capacity? Let us know in the comments below.
