Airport Police in South Carolina Arrest Two with Almost 60 POUNDS of Marijuana
Airport Police were tipped off that someone would be moving a significant amount of marijuana through the airport. Some digging turned up a likely suspect who was traveling via United Airlines coming from Denver after a stopover in Los Angeles.
The informant also tipped the authorities off that the trafficker wouldn’t be traveling alone. When the trafficker touched down in Charleston on January 16, 2023, Airport Police used a drug dog to inspect the luggage. The K9 got a hit on luggage belonging to Carl Anthony Dais (22). Dais claimed that he wasn’t aware of drugs being in the luggage and that he didn’t pack the bags.
His travel companion, Tyler Davis (20) scooped up another bag and attempted to flee. He was captured in short order and his bag was found to contain almost 26 pounds of marijuana in 23 vacuum-sealed bags. As for Dais, he had two pieces of luggage with 51 bags toting 57 pounds inside.
Both Dais and Davis face charges of trafficking marijuana more than 10 pounds but less than 100. They are currently jailed at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
