On Oregon’s Interstate 5, the State Police arrested a California man with six bundles of cocaine in his possession. Heraclio Sanchez Diaz (38) was traveling north on Interstate 5 at 1 PM when he was stopped for following a car too closely.
California Man Arrested with Six Bundles of Cocaine in Oregon Traffic Stop
Diaz following too closely served as the means for a probable cause search of his vehicle. While the interior was clear, it was after a drug-sniffing dog detected something in the trunk that Oregon state troopers made their discovery.
Inside a box in the trunk, troopers found six bundles of cocaine. Authorities didn’t mention the weight or estimated street value of the drugs in their statement. They did mention that special agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration were involved in the investigation.
This is likely to come with federal charges—especially since Interstate 5 is a known trafficking route along the west coast. Currently, there is an investigation ongoing and the U.S Attorney’s Office will handle charges for Diaz.
