One of the suspects was recognized by authorities as Martin Gonzalez-Garcia. While searching for Gonzalez-Garcia, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call only for there to be silence on the other end. With the origin of the call located, deputies headed to an empty house and entered.
Inside, they found Gonzalez-Garcia and his girlfriend Ashializ “Liz” Roldan-Oscasio. In a statement from the PCSO, Roldan-Oscasio said that they were in the house to escape the cold weather. A search turned up a bag of marijuana and the stolen items. Gonzalez-Garcia said that he only stole from Dollar General to sell them for money.
Martin Gonzalez-Garcia was charged with burglary of a residence and the burglary and theft of DG. Ashializ Roldan-Oscasio said she called so that deputies could help them move their belongings out of the house–which was being ransacked by them when the deputies arrived.
She said that they also wanted a ride to the airport to visit New York for the weekend. She was charged with burglary. Both remain in the Polk County Detention Center. In the statement the PCSO added:
“Deputies DID help them with their belongings, and DID give them a ride, but it wasn’t to the airport…it was to the Polk Pokey. And they are welcome to stay there all weekend long. The Polk Pokey is much better than New York anyway.”
