Prince Harry is under massive criticism since his memoir publication. While some tend to simply not like the book for its controversial character, others criticize it for spreading misinformation and lies.
Simply said, Prince Harry did not reach his goal of making a ‘boom’ with his memoir. Selling the book across the world, and especially in the UK is not as easy as Prince Harry thought it to be. The book is allegedly ‘hard to sell’ due to the massive backlash it created. A backlash that critics who find the ‘obvious lies’ in the memoir generate.
Experts Slam Prince Harry For Factual Errors In Memoir Spare
Critics found numerous mistakes in the memoir of Prince Harry, and they are not afraid to point every single one of them out. By doing this they are raising awareness to anyone who would find himself reading the book, to accept the facts in it with a ‘reserve’.
For example, the Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told that the memoir is full of ‘glaring errors’. She said that this could be a result of his brain being ‘so addled by the trauma of his life’. Another option she gave is that he may be living in a delusion ‘due to the drugs he took’.
Nevertheless, some mistakes are indeed factual. Mistakes that are utterly untrue. For example, in the memoir, Prince Harry boasts about King Henry VI is his relative. He says that the founder of the Eton boarding school is his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather. However, this is a factual lie. It is widely known that King Henry VI had only one child that died in battle at 17.
“Henry VI had no more children, so how could he be a ‘direct’ ancestor?” – one Twitter comment reads. “Prince Harry seems to have received a very superficial upbringing,”
“Prince Harry can’t even fact-check his own family tree. He is still under the impression that he descends from King Henry VI. But of course, let’s believe Harry fact-checks The Crown.”
Nevertheless, there are more facts that the critics discard. For example, the lie that Prince Harry offered to buy Thomas Markle a direct flight ticket to the UK.
“We told him: get out of Mexico right now. A new level of harassment is about to rain down on you, so come to Britain. Now, on Air New Zealand, first-class booked and paid for by Meghan.” – Prince Harry wrote in his memoir.
However, the air company mentioned discards this by pointing out they have never sold tickets between Mexico and Britain. Furthermore, they never offered ‘first class’, they only have Business Premier fares.
All of this, and more what is to come out of it make Spare by Prince Harry, one of the most controversial memoirs in modern history. Is it a success? You be the judge of that.
