A Texas man was charged with the murder of his wife after confessing to decapitating her. On January 11, 2023, Waller County deputies responded to a possible death at a residence on Oak Hollow Boulevard at around 4:18 PM.

The confessed murderer, Jared James Dicus (21) lived in a smaller building behind his family’s main house with his wife Anggy Diaz, also 21-years-old. The couple married in October 2022 but authorities had responded to the residence a few times in those three months.
According to the Waller County Sheriff’s Office, while they reported to the residence several times, things were never deemed serious enough that arrests had to be made. On that day, Dicus’ parents reported talking to Jared and finding something off about his demeanor.
They went to check on Anggy and found a murder scene. “A portion of the body was dismembered and the residence was covered in blood,” Sheriff Troy Guidry said of the finding.
In searching the residence, deputies found a kitchen knife that the Sheriff’s Office believes was used to decapitate Diaz. She had been stabbed in the back several times and her head was found in the shower.
The days following Anggy’s death saw a number of developments very early on. it was revealed that Jared was out on $1,000 bail for a DWI from November 2022. It was also revealed that Anggy was working in the U.S to send money back to Nicaragua for her mother’s cancer treatment.
Surveillance footage was released the day after her murder that showed Dicus at a convenience store stealing a beer. The video is from the morning of January 11, 2023 and the behavior correlates with the demeanor his parents noticed.
Jared James Dicus was jailed on a $500,000 bond. The investigation into the murder is still ongoing. As for Anggy Diaz; funeral services were held for her in Magnolia, Texas. Her remains were returned to her family in Nicaragua.
