7-Month-old Baby Maya Undergoes Heart Surgery
Cory wrote to his Instagram stories that, ‘Maya’s doing okay. She’s not doing great.’ In June 2022, the baby girl was born with tricuspid atresia, a form of congenital heart disease. ‘They’re keeping her sedated right now because her left lung has some fluid in it, and she’s having a hard time breathing on her own,’ he tells his 1.4 million followers. ‘So I just need that little girl to push out all that fluid in her lungs so then hopefully her vitals start to look normal’ he went on.

‘She’s on a ventilator right now, she’s not breathing on her own, and it’s just — it’s part of the process. We’re in good hands but yeah man, just keep us in your prayers. She’s a fighter, she’s going to make it through.’ He wrote along the bottom of the video,, ‘Just wanted to say thank you for all your support. So many people reached out and prayers were heard. ‘Maya is doing ok. Will take this thing hour by hour.
Thank you all. Continue to keep us in your prayers.’ In one of the recordings the father of three pointed the camera toward baby Maya as she lay in a hospital bed with a blanket covering her, and assured her, ‘We love you, we’ve got everybody praying for you, little girl.’ Cory then said, ‘We’ll get through this. We just had a meeting with the doctors and nursing team, and we’ll get through this. She’s going to make it through. I know she will.’
Maya underwent surgery to correct her heart condition a few days after she was born. On Tuesday Cory said in an Instagram post, ‘The day is finally here @mayagrace.wharton has her open heart surgery today ❤️. ‘All I’m asking, is for everybody to keep us in your prayers and keep praying for her & the doctors that will be working on her heart ❤️.’ ‘We have been anticipating this day for so long all the anxiety that has built up for months. I just can’t wait for her heart to be fixed,’ he continued.
‘Then we can move on from this chapter. Again thank you all, & I’ll keep you all updated.’ Later, the 31-year-old dad shared a black screen to his Instagram Stories featuring a single prayer hands emoji. He also shared a throwback clip showing him on a monitor as he held baby Maya and gave her a kiss.
