It is alleged that the suspects—identified as Viet Cuong Le (39) and Xuan Toan Dong (34)—were attempting to smuggle the meth into the UK and Greenland when they were captured. Both were charged with possession for the purpose of exporting and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, according to CBSA. Alberta RCMP Inspector Germain Leger said of the charges:
“With the support of various law enforcement agencies, we disrupted an international drug smuggling operation that would have caused significant harm to our communities and those abroad.”
Viet Cuong Le and Xuan Toan Dong are scheduled for a court hearing in Calgary on January 24, 2023.
