After 16 years on the run from Italian authorities, a member of ‘Ndrangheta–a crime organization based in Calabria, Italy—was arrested in Saint-Etienne, France. The fugitive was Edgardo Greco (63) and it turns out that he had been working at a pizza restaurant for over a decade under the name of “Paulo Dimitrio.”

Greco was wanted for murdering two people during a war between two opposing factions in 1991. He was actually in police custody in 2006 but managed to escape. The 63-year-old settled in Lyons, France where he took on a new identity and began working in a pizza restaurant.
His fall would start after he decided to open his own restaurant. Having become well-known locally, he was featured in Le Progés, a newspaper in Lyon, to promote the parlor. While he was still wanted by the Carabinieri, since it was believed that he fled Italy, Interpol became involved.
Observing Greco for a time, French authorities raided the fugitive and arrested him. He was informed that there was warrant in absentia for murder of Stefano and Giuseppe Bartolomeo. It was reported that the brothers had been beaten by Edgardo Greco and the bodies were dissolved in acid.
Greco remains in French custody pending his expedition to Italy.
