Kidnapper Benjamin Foster Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound Ending Oregon Standoff – Was Released in Nevada Prior to Serving Time for Kidnapping in 2021
Foster was announced as the suspect of a kidnapping and assault on a woman on January 24, 2023. The victim survived the attack but remains in critical condition. It turns out that Foster was released from prison in Nevada on the same day be was supposed to serve significant time on a previous kidnapping charge in October 2021.
The deal saw a Las Vegas judge give him 2 ½ years on the 2019 charge. Since he’d done 729 days already, the judge gave him time served. The charge involved violence and holding his partner against her will. Authorities in Grants Pass said that Foster knew the victim of this kidnapping as well.
Authorities in Oregon issued a $2,500 reward for information leading to his capture but at the time, Foster had a look that resulted in a lot of tips that went nowhere. Regardless, they tracked him throughout Oregon before cornering him in Grants Pass.
After an hours-long standoff with different agencies, Benjamin Foster killed himself. Prior to his death Foster was wanted for attempted murder, assault, and kidnapping. The case remains under investigation as authorities believe that he had assistance in his escape from the law.
