The Miami-Dade PD recently arrested a man who bit the head off of his girlfriend’s pet snake during an extremely heated argument. On January 30, 2023, authorities arrived at an apartment in the Saga Bay section of Cutler Bay.
Miami Area Man Arrested After Biting the Head Off Snake During Domestic Dispute
Inside unit #108, officers could hear a couple arguing and knocked on the door to make themselves known. The argument continued inside and officers began knocking and requesting that the door be opened. Things escalated behind the door and the woman yelled for the Miami-Dade PD to kick the door in.
The officers would barge inside to find the woman trying escape the man, Kevin Mayorga (32) trying to get behind a door. Mayorga was able to shake off a taser prong but was removed from the apartment unit. Outside, he’d fight with officers and managed to hit one officer while cuffs were being applied.
It was noted that the suspect continued to fight with police even as they had gotten him on the ground and we’re applying leg restraints. Once he was suitably subdued, officers spoke with the woman who said that Mayorga bit the head off of her pet ball python. The pet’s headless body was found next to the front door of the unit.
Kevin Mayorga was charged with false imprisonment, resisting an officer with violence, and animal cruelty.
