That is according to royal expert, Ingrid Seward. Because Harry was farther away in the line of succession than the others, he had a bit more liberty over how to handle the birth.
He was initially third in line, however, following Prince William’s children, he is now fifth. With that being said, Harry and Meghan chose to be discreet regarding the birth of Archie, declining to identify the medical facility where Meghan gave birth and declining to partake in the practice of taking a picture at the entrance of the hospital.
Harry’s determination to do things his own way was exemplified at Archie’s christening. The media is usually welcomed to take photos of the family and their attendees, including the newly appointed Godparents, as they enter and leave the ceremony. In contrast, Meghan and Harry opted to invite only 25 guests to an exclusive area at Windsor Castle for the celebration.
But this approach appeared to have backfired. In her comments, Ingrid said: “She’s the one getting all the flak as a newcomer to the Royal Family.
“I assume Harry and Meghan don’t know where they are going wrong and think the criticism is all so very unfair.” Despite this being the case, the response on social media differed.
A certain subset of people were of the view that Meghan had a big part to play in how the proceedings went down with Archie. After all, she is his mother.
One person wrote: “Way too many secrets about Archie’s birth and so on. She was the one 9sing . She was the one who wouldn’t follow protocol. Come on.”
