Jack Perry is ready to finally go after the AEW World Championship – making his intentions clear recently when he confronted MJF.
One man who knows all about winning World Championships is Matt Hardy, a current member of The Firm.
Tonight, he looks to prove that he’s ready for another run at the top as he goes one on one with Perry – the past of professional wrestling taking on potentially the future in a big time singles match.
Jack Perry Proves He’s On The Level Of The Legendary Matt Hardy
Hardy would lock up hard with Perry in the middle of the ring, battling into the corner – but allowing a clean break.
Perry would have his wrist captured in the middle of the ring and his arm was crashed into the shoulder of Hardy, before gaining control briefly. Hardy would drop Perry with a shoulder tackle, before being dropped with a dropkick – sending Hardy to the floor.
Ethan Page would act as a human shield for Hardy, allowing Hardy a chance to recover before catching a Suicide Dive into the Side Effect.
Page would throw Perry over the barricade as Hardy distracted the referee – just frustrating Perry and firing him up. Perry & Hardy would trade forearm shots on the apron, with Hardy hitting another Side Effect – this time on the hardest part of the ring.
Perry would have his face slammed into the turnbuckles, before the Alley Oop Powerbomb for a two count. Hardy was in firm control, but Perry was not staying down. Perry was ricocheted off the ropes and hit with forearm smashes to the spine, finding an opening for a lariat.
Page would run the distraction as Perry went to the top rope, allowing Hardy to nail a big superplex. HOOK would come to take Page away from the match, with Hardy coming to help Page – only to be hit with a punch intended for the FTW Champion.
Perry hit a dive onto Hardy, and countered a Twist Of Fate in the ring for a two count. Superkick into the Flatliner would set up the elbow to the back to the head for the victory.
MJF Feels Perry Only Has Himself To Blame For His Slow Climb In AEW
Following this match, the AEW World Champion would hit the stage – with MJF getting a negative reaction from the crowd. MJF would tell the crowd to shut up, and didn’t appreciate Perry crashing the re-Bar Mitzvah – that was a bit of a Kanye move.
Perry said that MJF had it easy in AEW, but that is true. MJF barely wrestlers, makes fun of fans, then gets on his private jet back to Long Island.
Meanwhile, Perry since losing to MJF in 2020? He’s had to scratch and claw, leaving blood, sweat and tears in the ring – all for ungrateful AEW fans.
Perry was not rewarded by admiration from the fans, TV time from Tony Khan, and only has himself to blame. After their match at Double or Nothing 2020 – MJF found Perry in the back and shook his hand, feeling he met his equal in the ring – and would ask Perry to recall what MJF told him.
Perry Will Do Things His Way To Reach The Top
MJF told Perry that nice guys finish last, to get rid of his friends and focus on himself. That led to him sticking with Marko Stunt, Luchasaurus and worst of all – Christian Cage.
If he listened to MJF – this could have been the Jack Perry Show. Since 2020, MJF has become the best wrestler in the world, the Ironman of AEW – while Perry is still just Jungle Boy.
Perry would say that sometimes, he wishes he could be like MJF. He wishes he could be a self centred piece of shit – but that isn’t him.
If his road to the top of the mountain is harder – so be it. When he wins the AEW World Championship, he won’t hate the person he sees in the mirror. MJF would gouge Perry’s eyes, before being stomped into the corner – and narrowly avoided the elbow to the neck.
