Earlier this year, we saw the end of Jay White’s time as part of New Japan Pro Wrestling. He was sent packing from Japan by former Bullet Club member Hikule’o, and from NJPW altogether by Eddie Kingston.
Following this, it was expected that he would be signing a contract with WWE – starting the next stage of his career there. Instead, we would see White make his return to All Elite Wrestling, this time as a full time member of the roster.
Chris Jericho Feels Jay White Choosing AEW Over WWE Is A Great Sign
While speaking to Tim and Eli on Battleground, Chris Jericho would be talking about some accomplishments AEW has had over the past four years. Jericho would use the signing of Jay White after he was practically a perfect fit for WWE as proof that AEW has never lost their momentum.
“Jay White, what a great example of us still having momentum. Hottest free agent in the world. Silver platter for WWE. The guy is 6’4”, he’s international, he has the accent, which chicks love. He’s a great worker, great heel, great babyface. He chose AEW. If that doesn’t tell you that something is going on with us, I don’t know what will. Just to continue to build that momentum is a very exciting prospect.”
In-Ring Debut Set For AEW Dynamite Against Komander
We will see Jay White make his in-ring debut as a member of the roster of AEW this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. White is set to face international superstar Komander in this match.
The last time White wrestled on AEW TV was as a special guest from NJPW, facing Trent of Best Friends on an episode of AEW Rampage.
White was without a doubt a massive signing for AEW. He’s a main event level talent, and could very easily be a future AEW World Champion. Right now, he’s working alongside Juice Robinson to start up a branch of Bullet Club in AEW, calling themselves Bullet Club Gold.
White was forced out of Bullet Club by the new leader of David Finlay, though many still support White as the true faction leader – a potential storyline for Forbidden Door II later this year. Finlay denies Bullet Club Gold as an official branch of the faction.
