Impact Wrestling appears to be attracting star power lately as Mercedes Mone was reportedly spotted in Chicago where Impact’s TV tapings begin on April 28, 2003.
The news came from PWInsider, but she probably isn’t part of the show.
As we reported previously, Trinity Fatu, formerly Naomi in WWE, is working with Impact Wrestling and is making her debut at the tapings.
PWInsider stated that the company denied that she’ll be there when they were asked earlier this week, and that now she’s only there to support her friend.
Scouting new area
While she’s working with New Japan Pro Wrestling, they do have a close working relationship with Impact Wrestling, who does have an open door policy of working with other companies so there’s a chance she could appear briefly in an episode of IMPACT! in the coming weeks as part of NJPW.
To throw further fuel on the fire, her NJPW commitments will be completed later this month and there’s a chance she may want to test other waters.
Of course, she’s also stated that she is open to working with NJPW again and has also said she’s interested in moving to Japan full time and learning their language.
There are a lot of different possibilities that could materialize from her appearance, especially given Impact Wrestling’s locker room has a reputation as being very supportive and positive, and especially focused on bringing out the best in each other.
A perfect combination
It could be the perfect place for her to work a few dates alongside Fatu until she either moves onto another company or decides to settle in for a short run.
Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts division is already arguably the best women’s division in professional wrestling and they regularly have their matches main event and don’t cut matches short because they’re women.
When we look at how the Impact Wrestling product is continuing to grow and has sold out five consecutive live events to start 2023 and increased viewership, there’s a definite possibility the two sides could come up with a deal.
One thing’s for sure, Impact Wrestling has come a long way in the last couple of years when there were fans mocking them for building at their own pace and wanting WWE to buy them to put them on a larger stage.
Scott D’Amore has done an awesome job in making Impact Wrestling a known commodity again, and it’d only be a huge positive to have Mone join them even if for a short time.
What are your thoughts? Could we see Mone and Fatu working together in Impact for a few shows? Let us know in the comments below.
