House of Black have assumed complete dominance in the AEW trios division. Since taking the AEW World Trios Championships from The Elite, they’ve turned away all challengers.
Add in the added edge of House Rules, which bring opponents into their world – as the lights dim, outside action has a twenty count, no rope breaks allowed and weapons are for cowards.
They allow their opponents to add a rule of their choice, which was little aid to Best Friends & Bandido. Tonight AR Fox, Gran Metalik & Blake Christian get their shot, after proving themselves in the ROH trios division.
They chose Lucha Rules – meaning the action can flow without tags, suiting a team of high fliers like Fox, Metalik & Christian.
Christian would kick things off with Matthews, and would quickly be thrown to the floor. Metalik would slip into the ring to battle Matthews, and use a hurricanrana to send Matthews out. Malakai Black would be in next, hitting a stiff knee to the midsection before Christian came into the ring.
House of Black did their research, and know that while Christian is improving – he’s the rookie of the team, and would work to isolate him.
This would work for a short while, but a German Suplex saw Christian land on his feet and get the tag to Metalik. Together, they’d take down Black & Matthews – leaving Fox & Brody King to fight it out – and King won out with a lariat.
Christian & Metalik would trip King up as he hit the ropes, before Fox dived over the top rope onto the House of Black. Matthews would regain control in the ring, and locked in a Prism Lock on Fox.
King would catch Christian before he could break the hold up, and hung him off the apron with a chokehold – leading to the House of Black victory, with Fox tapping out.
MJF Knows His Challengers Are AEW, But He Shows No Loyalty
At Double or Nothing 2023, we will see the Four Pillars of AEW clash. MJF is walking in as AEW World Heavyweight Champion, and Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara & Jack Perry all as challengers.
These four men have been loyal to AEW since the start, and intend to steal the show. Tonight we will hear from MJF – who needs to risk it all this Sunday to prove he’s the pinnacle of AEW.
On his way to the ring, MJF stopped by the commentary desk – throwing Tony Schiavone’s water at him. Hitting the ring, MJF would say that even with the deck stacked against him – he intends to prevail.
He has wishes for his opponents, that Sammy Guevara trips and gets stuck in a electric socket, Jack Perry put in an echo chamber and forced to cut a promo until he puts himself to sleep, and Darby Allin gets to climb Mount Everest to jump off.
However, all jokes aside – MJF knows that it doesn’t get more homegrown in AEW than him and his opponents. Combined, they are AEW – but does MJF even want to be in AEW anymore?
He’s getting sick of the lack of competition, sick of dumb AEW fans, and sick of Tony Khan. MJF would remind everyone that his contract is up in 2024, and Tony Khan knows this.
That is why he’s put in a Fatal Four Way match, because Khan is getting desperate. He wants MJF to lose. At Double Or Nothing, we’ll see that the other pillars are great wrestlers, but not on the level of the devil.
The Four Pillars Lay MJF Out
Darby Allin would hit the ring, and explained that he knows exactly who he is. He bet on himself when he decided to become a professional wrestler.
Allin lived in his car until he made it as a wrestler, using this to drive himself to succeed. AEW would come along and saved his career, opening chances to skateboard with Tony Khan and jump his house with a car.
Now it’s time for Allin to give back to AEW. He will end MJF’s reign of terror before we get close to his contract ending – ensuring the belt remains where it belongs.
MJF would hit a low blow on Allin, before trying to punch him out with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Jack Perry & Sammy Guevara would some out next, ensuring MJF couldn’t flee. Perry laid him out with a lariat, and got to hold the belt high.
