We are quickly approaching the second ever Forbidden Door event. The supershow featuring the stars of All Elite Wrestling & New Japan Pro Wrestling is just over a month away, set for June 25th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Once AEW is done with Double or Nothing 2023, and NJPW with Dominion – we can expect to see this card fill up fast with major names. One name who hopes to be featured on the card is former NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Fred Rosser – and he’s got two names in mind.

Fred Rosser Eyes Big Names Ahead Of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

During an interview with The Wrstling Podcast, Fred Rosser would be asked who his ideal opponent at Forbidden Door would be. Rosser had the following to say in response.

“Hm, who would I like to wrestle from their side. That’s a good question, I’m just focused with New Japan. Who would I want to wrestle? I’d wanna wrestle Chris Jericho, CM Punk, it would be full circle with CM Punk, he was my coach on the original NXT, which was like a game show, which I hated. He pretty much hated doing it too, during the time we didn’t really say two words to one another. Full circle, I’m a lot older, I’m a lot wiser. I’m like wine, I age gracefully with time. I definitely feel like working against either of them, Jericho or CM Punk, would help elevate me.”

Both of these matches would suit the style of Rosser, and with Punk likely only returning to AEW TV a week before this event – a quick build would be needed. Putting him against his one time protege as a way to prove he can still perform in the ring would open a chance for an easy match that could get the crowd excited.

On the flip side, Jericho is always a solid opponent, and in 2023 – is as strong a performer as ever. As a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion, Jericho is a high value target for someone on the NJPW roster, and someone who always has the attention of wrestling fans.

Who would you rather see Fred Rosser face at Forbidden Door? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
