There are few voices more iconic to professional wrestling than Jim Ross. Since the 1980’s, Ross has found himself behind the commentary desk for companies like the NWA, WCW, WWE, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and now All Elite Wrestling.
While he’s not on the desk full time anymore, Ross is keeping a close eye on all the talent of AEW – and has noticed two names who don’t get as much TV time as they deserve.
Jim Ross Feels Wardlow & Powerhouse Hobbs Need More TV Time
During a virtual signing for K&S WrestleFest – Jim Ross was asked about who on the AEW roster deserves more TV time.
“Probably Powerhouse Hobbs, I’d like to see more, consistently, more of him and Wardlow. Two guys I have my eyes on. We have a lot of guys who are really close to breaking through to the next level, which is great. They’re learning and getting better. That’s their obligation. They work a great schedule, they have a chance to work out, train, and take care of their bodies when they’re off. They don’t travel as much as other companies. I like where we’re headed as far as the young guys are concerned.”
Right now, Wardlow is the TNT Champion in his third reign. He was off AEW programming last week, recovering from a brutal ladder match at Double or Nothing 2023, where he successfully defended against Christian Cage.
His next feud remains unclear, with many expecting him to defend the TNT Championship at Forbidden Door II – likely facing a member of the NJPW roster.
Powerhouse Hobbs meanwhile is set to be a potentially key name in the future of AEW Saturday Night Collision. He remains aligned with QT Marshall, and is a former TNT Champion – having a brief reign after defeating Wardlow for the belt due to the help of Marshall.
Both Hobbs & Wardlow are set to be steady stars in the future of AEW, potentially both being future AEW World Champions.
