Britt Baker & Taya Valkyrie both got victories last week, but Valkyrie doesn’t think they were equal. She beat a rising star in Skye Blue, while Baker faced some local nobody.
Following her match, Valkyrie would call Baker out for a match here tonight – and it was accepted. She knows her AEW run has not gone according to plan, and tonight has a chance to prove she’s worth the hype despite her recent big losses.
Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D vs. La Wera Loca For The First Time Ever
Valkyrie would send Baker into the mat during the opening lock up, before Baker tried for the headlock. Baker would use the corner to gain some speed and take Valkyrie to the mat, holding on tight before being shoved off the ropes. The shoulder tackle would take Baker down, with Valkyrie again showing her power edge.
Baker would crawl into the corner where Valkyrie hit the running knee strike, before being dropped by a short arm lariat for a two count.
A kick to the knee would set up a curb stomp for Baker, but Valkyrie avoided and hit a facebuster before some mounted punches and elbows on the mat. The referee would warn Valkyrie with a DQ unless she stopped, but the damage was done.
Baker would be driven to the ropes and choked – Valkyrie pushing her knee into the back. Valkyrie briefly lost control before slamming Baker into the mat and applying a modified Camel Clutch. Baker would be let loose and slammed face first into the mat before some elbow strikes in the corner.
Valkyrie would be stunned by a rolling elbow from Baker, before trading blows in the middle of the ring. A knee strike and a lariat would get another near fall, Baker having a hard time kicking out this time.
Northern Lights Suplex would follow as a counter to the Panama Sunrise, but Baker landed it on the second attempt for a close fall.
Lockjaw would be signalled, and Valkyrie fought to avoid it – but the second it was applied – she would tap out. This match is done, and Baker gets another big victory.
Blackpool Combat Club Bring The Fight To Dynamite’s Main Event Once Again
Lucha Bros had a hard loss this past Friday at ROH Supercard of Honor, with Aussie Open taking their ROH World Tag Team Championships. Tonight, they return to Dynamite with a point to prove, and two teams were ready to face them.
Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli of Blackpool Combat Club and Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor of Best Friends. It’s a big triple threat tag team match, and FTR better be watching closely.
Best Friends & Lucha Bros started the fight in the ring as the BCC made their way to ring, with things breaking out into a six man brawl. Moxley would choke Taylor with his shirt, leading him up the ramp.
Penta, Trent, Castagnoli & Fenix would follow – with Taylor breaking free of Moxley and diving off the stage onto everyone. Castagnoli took Taylor back down the ramp and threw him into the steel steps.
Fenix & Castagnoli would bring this match into the ring, with Castagnoli outpouring Fenix before running into a knee and being dropped with an armdrag into the foot stomp.
Trent hit a big knee strike before taking a cutter from Moxley, with Castagnoli taking Fenix down with a huge uppercut for a near fall. Moxley would get the tag and choked Fenix on the ropes.
Trent would tag into the match and kicked off Fenix into a DDT on Castagnoli, getting a near fall. Moxley would break down Trent in the BCC corner, isolating him as Lucha Bros & Chuck Taylor watched on.
Orange Cassidy Takes The Focus Away In The Main Event
Trent would be set up on the top rope for a superplex, with Castagnoli being dropped first before he dove in with a dropkick. Taylor would get the tag and hit a German Suplex on Moxley, who rolled into a tag on Penta. A series of Slingblades would follow before the backstabber got a two count – Trent making the save.
The BCC would again attack Trent with a Press Slam into a cutter, before Fenix dove onto Moxley. A six man brawl in the ring would follow, with BCC sent to the floor first before Best Friends hit a set of Piledrivers on the Lucha Bros for a near fall. Lucha Bros would get a set of arm breakers, before the BCC attacked them.
Taylor was beaten down with elbows and the Ricola Bomb, while Trent had his head stomped by Moxley. Orange Cassidy would make the save – going after Moxley, a response to the attack earlier in the night. Trent hit Crunchy on Castagnoli, who was not the legal man, only to be dropped by Penta – giving Lucha Bros the win.
