Brian Cage & Big Bill are one of the stronger teams formed in the Blind Draw Eliminator Tournament, and have shown their skills against Matt Sydal & Trent Baretta to make the semi-finals. However, they are now faced by the AEW World Champion MJF & Adam Cole, rivals turned partners.
Cole & MJF have all the raw skill needed to topple two giants, and MJF has a ‘double clothesline’ in mind to end this match with a bang – which might be what it takes.
They bonded this past weekend, playing video games and going to the bar. The AEW World Champion would claim to have the flu after seeing Cage, but Cole convinced him to hit the ring.
MJF & Adam Cole Continue To Gain Trust As A Tag Team
MJF would start the match and try to body slam Bill, but hurt his back – tagged out and headed for the back. Cole would once again have to pull MJF back, before meeting Cage in the ring. Cage would do some pushups and flex, and Cole would do the same before both tagged out.
MJF would try to bodyslam Bill again, but failed – with Bill saying that the AEW World Champion can’t let his partner outshine him. Trying to do some push ups, MJF was kicked in the ribs.
Bill would do some push ups, leaving just referee Bryce Remburg & Prince Nana to do some push ups. Nana would instead choke MJF on the bottom rope.
MJF would take the eyes of Bill and tried the bodyslam a third time, with Bill falling on him for a two count. Cage would hit the ring for a Release German Suplex, before Bill ripped off the tag team shirt that MJF made for his team with Cole. This enraged MJF, who finally hit the body slam to a massive reaction.
Cole would hit some pump kicks on Cage, before an eyepoke. MJF called for the double clothesline, but Cage hit the brakes on the ropes – and Bill hit the double clothesline.
MJF & Cole cut Bill down with a double superkick, before Cage threw both men across the ring. Cole stunned Cage on the apron with a superkick, and MJF hit the Heatseeker.
The Boom followed – and MJF & Cole make the finals. They will face Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara on July 29th. The winner gets a shot to become the AEW World Tag Team Champions. That could put them against FTR, or Jay White & Juice Robinson – depending on the title match later this week.
Ruby Soho Picks Skye Blue Apart
Ruby Soho is determined to win the Owen Hart Memorial Cup, and thanks to The Outcasts – was able to steal the victory against Britt Baker last week. Now, she is into the semi-finals, and facing a familiar foe in the form of Skye Blue.
Blue has been steadily improving in AEW, recently challenging Toni Storm for the AEW World Championship – with The Outcasts being involved in that match as well.
Soho would take a stiff slap as this match began, before Blue took out Saraya & Storm on the floor. Blue would look for a Dragon Suplex on the apron, but Soho was able to block before taking a bulldog instead.
The referee would check on Soho, allowing Storm to drive Blue into the apron. This was noticed, and The Outcasts were banished from ringside.
Soho would go after Blue, using the steps to further injure the knee before stretching it in the ropes. Blue would throw some forearm strikes, before being tripped and having her leg slammed off the ring post. Soho would take a knee strike from Blue before a neckbreaker, but was able to kick out at two.
Blue would be taken down into a Single Leg Crab, Soho focusing on the hurt knee – but Blue made the bottom rope. Soho would trip up Blue on the top rope, and hit a Super No Future Kick – punching her ticket to the finals for the second year in a row. She’ll face either Willow Nightingale or Athena.
